Manny Bojorquez, an Anaheim, California-based entrepreneur, previously worked for Frito Lay in the City of Industry. Here, Manny Bojorquez was a district sales leader who won a number of awards.Frito Lay is one of the most popular chip brands, producing Lays, Cheetos, Doritos, Cracker Jack’s, and Fritos, among others. The company operates on a sustainable platform. It began in 1932 when CE Doolin entered a small cafĂ© and purchased corn chips. Mr. Doolin contacted the manufacturer and secured the recipe, following which he began making them in his mother’s kitchen, and at the same time, the Lays company began. Frito-Lay, Inc. would not be born until 1961, merging four years later with Pepsi-Cola.As the company grew, it would incorporate new chip flavors, but it would also incorporate sustainable practices into its manufacturing processes. The company’s first effort involves converting production to 100 percent natural gas sourced from renewable sources to reduce impact on its fleet, which is the equivalent of saving 8,000 natural gas homes. The company uses compressed natural gas (CNG), which reduces its reliance on gasoline and diesel by 7.7 gallons by 6.7 gallons, respectively. This is comparable to removing 14,000 cars from the road.In relationship to the actual products, the company has also tried to make snacks healthier. Its Bare Snacks and Off the Eaten Path Veggie Puffs are two examples of the company reducing the amount of salt and fat in their products.
